The first time I dated a non-binary person, it struck me that there were very few love sounds out there for they/thems. For all the shes, hes, yous…where were the sweet, saucy songs for the non-binary babes?

Meanwhile, that sweetheart had once jokingly referred to themselves as my “little trans lover” in a text. I was sitting in a Zoom meeting and that text instantly burst into a little ditty in thoughts. I recorded the song as a voice note for date (after the meeting, natch), and that was that.

But considering that lack of non-binary love songs, I didn’t want to keep the song just between us. I got my go-to musician pals Steve Dawson, Gary Craig and Jeremy Holmes on board and we recorded a full band version of the song.

Thus, I present, Summer is Hot With My Little Trans Lover.
